childhood remnant

Things have been alright lately. School is good, and today I even stopped having fun to try and do my homework, but then I realized that I left the folder with all my school things in the Study Abroad office on Friday. Fortunately I have a two hour break after my first class tomorrow, so hopefully I can do the reading for french lit then.
On friday I went to see Dr. Hines, and it was a relief. I finally admitted to her that I needed help with my sleeping, because I kept falling asleep then waking up and not being able to fall back asleep. She prescribed me Trazodone, which i keep forgetting to take, but I swear i will take it tonight.
Anyway, today I decided that instead of leaving the NOH painting rolled up in a box, I should hang it up, secured canvas or not.
I put it over the window in my apartment, because I never have the blinds up anyway.

It's so calming to have the painting back again. It's been in my family since before I was born, and waking up from a nap and seeing it blurry, without my glasses on, gave me the feeling of finally being back home again. I was really upset when I heard it got damaged in the hurricane and mom was going to throw it away, but luckily Alicia saved it for me. Anyway, now it is mine and I may get it re-stretched and put on wood some day, if I can afford it. But until then, I am not taking it down. I forgot how much I love that painting.

First Oldboy, now One Missed Call...

It's like, when I see an asian movie I like, i look it up online, and WHAM! They're making an American version!
GOD DAMNIT!

See the originals. But really, I hated RINGU though.

haha, oh politics!

So, Iran is being mean and making nuclear weapons and now the USA and even Germany France and the UK are pissed at them.
TOO BAD we just wasted all this time having a war against Iraq who DIDN'T have WMDs instead of spending time and money on someone who actually appears to HAVE WMDs.
but this is all speculative of course.

also, funny in the alito hearings:
democrat: How come you can say free speech is constitutionally protected but when it comes to abortion you can't give us an answer?
...
Okay, the phrase "freedom of speech" is written verbatim in the bill of rights. abortion is something they've been ferreting around under privacy. of course freedom of speech is constitutional, it's not a matter of interpretation or context, it's right there in the damn thing. abortion is just a lot more... ethereal? not good at words right now

So, happy new year as well.
It's friday morning annnd I haven't been to sleep yet. I decided to do the cool thing and stay up all night AND all day today so that I can fall asleep (relatively) early tonight and get my sleep schedule back on schedule. School starts tuesday, so I need to get back on a normal schedule.
Speaking of school and schedules, I've finally finished setting up my schedule.
Monday:
Intro to Critical Thinking: 11:00-11:50 am
Intro to French Literature: 2:00-3:20 pm
Student Leadership Seminar: 3:30-4:50 pm
Photo 1: 5:30-9:30 pm
Tuesday:
Intermediate Conversational French: 12:00-1:20 pm
Wednesday:
Intro to Critical Thinking: 11:00-11:50 am
Intro to French Literature: 2:00-3:20 pm
Student Leadership Seminar: 3:30-4:50 pm
Thursday:
Intermediate Conversational French: 12:00-1:20 pm
Friday:
Intro to Critical Thinking: 11:00-11:50 am

I'm looking forward to it, this looks like a really sweet schedule to me. Mondays are going to suck extra hard, but it's going to be so much nicer to have the end of the week looking calmer. Also, the french literature and critical thinking are the only two I can see causing me to have real essay writing. The others, possibly, but I imagine if I do have essays for them they'll be easy.
But anyway.
Not sure if classes start monday or tuesday, we'll see.
I can barely see the screen now because my damn to do list is taped right above my desk so I can't ignore it. There's so much that has to get done in the next couple days... But i can do it. I think
Unfortunately, I couldn't find my captain's hat.
But when I was driving back through Tennessee I realized I really like it and want to go back.
Speaking of which! I can't believe I forgot to post these pictures!

Me in Georgia, in front of cotton fields.

Also in Georgia: my new car before the hailstorm.

Closeup of some cotton! I also picked some, it's in my trunk right now!

Candles! NOT AT MY APARTMENT if my RA is reading this...

Amber and others at the super Fancy Pot Luck party a week ago

Me looking like a dummy at said party.

Piercing equipment at Cheap Trx.

Hilary gets pierced!

Cornbread I made!

New signal flags I put up behind my desk!

In other news, if I do as I'm told and get my passport renewed today, I can apply to study abroad this summer. So, wow, i'm excited, if it happens I will go to Geneva! It will be cool, if you ask me. Except that I'm not really social. But i will try to get it done.
Also, I am cutting my hair right now. I get paranoid about doing this because my scissors kind of suck, but hopefully all will go well.
Back to the bathroom. Seeyaz!
