nov. 12, 2004 - amanda's birthday

Well! November 12 was my birthday, and since it was on a Friday, it made all the more sense to celebrate it. I originally planned on going to dinner with friends, semi nice but not too pricey, as we are all under 20 and therefore NOT rolling in it. However, the week before my birthday, my mother (who lives and works in Key West, Florida) called me and said she was going to be in town and she wanted to have a family gathering for my birthday and my friends could come too. Now, this worked well for me. Mom was going to pay for dinner, and the friends and family members of hers (that I like) would be there to help celebrate and give my mother something to talk about besides me.

Now, something funny was when my mom first called me she said "So, where do you want to go eat?" I said "I don't know, what's good?" she said "Your uncle Bob suggested the Melting Pot, and I've heard that's good..." "Yeah, I've heard it's good, I've also heard it's around $80 to $100 a person, and I'm bringing five friends. Are you sure you want to pay for all that?" "Well, it's your birthday." "Okay..."

So, we ate at the Melting Pot for dinner. Those dining included myself, Joey, Amber, Hunter, Becca, and Kyle; my mother, her friends (our "aunts") Susan and "Crazy Aunt Linda", my uncle Bob, his wife Denise and their son Anthony. TWELVE PEOPLE. Actually, the meal was cheaper than expected, totalling at $700. But the fact that my mother was willing to pay it without fuss is totally disgusting. Almost as disgusting as the fact that the price of the dinner is less than a tenth of a percent of the cost of the last property she purchased.

Anyway, fun was had by all; the food was decent but the conversation and such was very entertaining. I got about 15 renditions of Happy Birthday, including French, Latin, and Pig Latin, not to mention my mother, Linda, and Susan singing oldies that had nothing to do with growing another year older.

Enjoy my pictures, and if you're rich, go to the melting pot, it's a very fun trip.
